This weekend, the FREESKIER team headed East to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania to witness the Monster Energy After Hours Rail Jam at Jack Frost Big Boulder (JFBB). The resort, known for its park builds, was buzzing with locals after a long Saturday of skiing, and the custom rail garden built for the event had a crowd gathered before the competition even started.

Located just a two-hour drive from New York City, JFBB is one of the few places on the East Coast that celebrates freestyle park skiing with an ever-changing park build and proper coaching for up-and-coming skiers. At this year’s After Hours Rail Jam, which returned after a two-year hiatus, competitors as young as 10-years-old went head-to-head against one another in a 30-minutes jam format, hitting as many rails as possible within the time frame. Needless to say, the kids are alright over in Pennsylvania.

Top ranked skiers from the preliminary jam competed in the finals for a shot to win a chunk of $10,000. With boarders and skiers competing together in the final round, which was held under the lights just outside the base area lodge at Jack Frost Mountain, the event got rowdier by the minute. Culminating in a final run for each competitor, the talent showcased by the local skiers at the Monster Energy After Hours Rail Jam had the FREESKIER team wondering when the sponsorships will start flowing through Eastern PA.
