As you may recall, this summer we hosted the skis.com model search. We called upon women all across North America to submit photos and a short bio in the hopes of finding a beautiful lady to star in skis.com‘s 2013/14 advertisements.
Now, months later, and after considering nearly 200 individuals who applied for a chance to become the next skis.com model, we have a winner. Meet Jana, from Bend, OR.
See more photos of Jana here.
Where are you from originally and where do you currently reside? I grew up season skipping between the windblown Oregon coast and the Tetons. Bend, Oregon is home right now.
What do you do for work? I am a PSIA instructor and own my own graphic design studio. I hope to fuse my product design background and my ongoing love affair with snow. In spring I am part of the Masterfit test team, letting me rip new gear and write reviews for Ski Mag.
How many days do you spend on snow, give or take, per season? Last season at Bachelor I hit 130 days and over 1 million vert. Plus long summer days at Mt. Hood and escapes into backcountry pockets.
Can you describe your skiing style? Are you a big-mountain master? Park hound? Groomer destroyer? Playful and fluid with some tip and rip.
Anything special planned for this season in particular? Yes! I am currently in operation to buy a sled, so stoked. Besides Bachelor you will find me in the Tam McArthur yurts, cat skiing Mt. Bailey, hiking into Todd Lake and at Tuckermans this season.
Where’s your favorite place to ski? Red Mountain, Rossland BC, Monashee Mountains.
Is there a ski resort you haven’t been to yet, but long to visit? Treble Cone. I love New Zealand!
What was the first thing that went through your mind when you read the email notifying you that you’d been selected as the winner? “What? Really? So excited!”
Are you going to enjoy big time celebrity status amongst your friends when skis.com releases their advertisements for 2013/14, with you featured in the photos? Does “celebrity status” involve cutting lift lines?
If a Freeskier reader spots you on the hill and insists on buying you lunch and a drink at the base lodge, what would you ask for? Bloody Mary, it’s food and drink in one.
And there you have it. Keep an eye out for Jana on the slopes this season. You might be lucky enough to get her that Bloody. As part of the deal, Jana will be flown to Bloomfield Hills, MI, to work with a professional photographer; together, they’ll produce the skis.com ads that’ll run in next year’s magazines. We look forward to seeing what you guys churn out.
