For several years at the start of this decade Mammoth was mecca for skiing pros. While some of those pros are training else where now, Oren Tanzer and the rest of the Unbound Park staff haven’t missed a beat, and they continue to create one of the world’s best terrain parks.

Mammoth is home to seven parks spanning over 90 acres of terrain. More than 50 jumps, 75 jibs and three halfpipes have everything covered, from learning a trick in the baby park to full-on pro sessions on 80-footbooters. Super-quick laps on the Unbound Express high-speed quad over the main park make for great viewing and easy access. “It’s pretty much the sickest park, mainly because the Unbound crew kicks ass,” says Christian Pondella, veteran photographer and long-time Mammoth resident.

Mammoth is lucky to be graced with an above-average number of sunny days and a park season that extends into June. Last year, Mammoth boasted the best late-spring photoshoot scene — Level 1’s week-long spring shoot, Red Bull’s halfpipe shoot with Simon Dumont and numerous snowboard events.
