Winter is just starting to grace the Northern Hemisphere and Fischer is gearing up for the 2018-19 season with the additions of American big-mountain skier Lynsey Dyer and Swedish freeski legend Sverre Liliequist to the team roster.
Born and raised on the mountains of Sun Valley, Idaho, Lynsey Dyer is a skier to her core. Having set her skis on six of the world’s continents and winning every big-mountain competition she’s ever entered, Dyer has cemented herself as one of the best big mountain skiers in the world. Aside from her athletic performance, Dyer’s dedication to inspiring younger generations to live the passion for skiing makes this lady ripper an incredible asset to the team she was first part of in 2013.
“I love skiing so much I’ve built my life around it. It is an honor then to team up with a family-owned global brand like Fischer who shares the same philosophy. I’m excited to partner with a brand pushing leading-edge technology in their skis and boots worldwide and to display its versatility in the North American backcountry,” says Dyer in a recent press release.
Sverre Liliequist has been making headlines in the ski industry since the late ’90s and shows no signs of slowing down. Wracking up more awards than he can count on his hands and feet and co-founding the headware company Kask, Liliequist’s life revolves around skiing.
“I’ve been skiing all of my life and still going 100 percent, it’s a way of life! To me, starting working with Fischer feels exciting, the brand has the best history there is and together I believe we can keep on developing the freeskiing segment even more,” says Liliequist in that same press release. “I now live in a ski town so I can really get out every day to keep on exploring the products, new terrain and any kind of adventure.”
On Fischer’s side, the team is just as excited as Dyer and Liliequist for the athlete additions. “I’m pleased that we have now got Lynsey back on board. She is an inspiration–not only on skis–for many young people and has a mindset which is perfect for Fischer’s philosophy. The same applies to Sverre,” says Jan Ekmark, head of marketing at Fischer. “As a Scandinavian freeski legend his lifestyle in particular is an enhancement for us: ‘Skiing is life’ is on his agenda.”
