Check out some of the photos from the top of the jump. The sunset this evening was nothing short of spectacular. I’ll have a full write up, athlete interviews, additional photos and video in a complete wrapup on Monday when I return to Freeskier HQ. Thanks to everyone here at Icer Air for their support and the athletes for crushing it!

Mike has an edited video on the way from the prelims. It is uploading to the site now and will be ready in around 40 minutes. The wifi connection here isn’t blisteringly fast but it does the trick! Keep checking back in. Freeskier Mobile users, I’ll text update you when it is ready!

Here is a breakdown of what just happened in the 2nd round of quals. The top 7 will make it into the finals. New photos are now in the gallery.
Tim Durtschi: Switch 720 Tailgrab
Peter Olenick: Switch 900 Tailgrab. Coming into this heat Peter was in 7th place, which is enough to get him into finals. Pay attention to the bases of his skis, Nordicas.
Tim Russell: Switch 720 truckdriver.
Oscar Scherlin: Switch 1080, dragged a couple of knuckles on the landing.
Sammy Carlson: Switch 1080
Jon Olsson: A perfect switch 1080. Corked out, very tweaked. Also note that Jon is wearing a collared shirt under his jersey. The man is straight business.
TJ Schiller: Drops in switch, bobbles a bit on his rotation, misses the grab, goes off axis, looks like he’s going to eat it… Pulls it out, skis away.
John Spriggs: Falls. We’ve been informed by Van Valin that Spriggs is 6’6.
Simon Dumont: Throws a double front, stomps it.
Colby James West: Switch 1080 mute.
Josh Bibby: Switch 900 with some crazy misty style, he was completely inverted. Looked real sweet.

Simon is currently in first and went enormous on a super tweaked cork 10. TJ is in 2nd with a switch 10. Mike is editing some runs right now. Expect those online shortly. I’m mixing in some more photos.

Here’s the format… Best of two runs. Half the field moves on to the finals. I’m currently perched 11 stories up from the top of the jump. Check out the video!
1:40 PM
I just posted a short video from the camera in my laptop from the deck of the jump. Check it out. More polished video will be coming later, Freeskier’s very own Mike Thomas is running around the event with the HDcam.
1:15 PM
Practice is going down right now. I’m standing on the deck of the jump, laptop in my bag, camera in my hand. Here come the photos.
