One of the most outstanding heli-ski operations in the world, Selkirk Tangiers, is getting even better. The British Columbia, Canada-based outfitter announced they are officially partnering with Wildcat Helicopters. This will expand the current Selkirk Tangiers fleet, as they will have access to every helicopter under the Wildcat name.

Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Skiing, or STHS, has guided passionate riders for 45 years. Founded in 1978, they’ve been a cornerstone of the ski community in Revelstoke, British Columbia ever since. Their story is filled with a deep dedication and love for the skiing of interior British Columbia. Founder Peter Schlunegger had a deep affinity for the region thanks to his great-grandfather, Karl Schlunegger, who was one of the original mountain guides on the historic Rogers Pass in 1899. This family affair has cultivated a renowned operation that puts as much pride in their work as any other group in the industry, if not more.

Wildcat Helicopters is also an industry veteran, servicing a handful of needs from firefighting and search and rescue, to engineering and technical heavy lifting. While they have an extensive history of providing heli-skiing services throughout Canada, this partnership is certainly a new step in a great direction for them.

“Partnering with Selkirk Tangiers is a natural fit for us,” said Mike Westie, Director of Operations for Wildcat Helicopters. “We share a passion for the mountains and a commitment to excellence. Together, we are elevating the heli-skiing experience, providing guests with the best possible access to Selkirk Tangier’s incredible terrain. Guests can have peace of mind knowing they are in the safest hands, with the most modern and reliable aircraft fleet the industry has to offer.”

Selkirk Tangiers will have access to the Wildcat Helicopters fleet, including their twin-engine Bell 212 and Airbus H125 helicopters.

Because of their outstanding service, STHS has continued to grow in recent years. Partnering with Wildcat Helicopters will help them meet demand by giving them access to some of the most up-to-date helicopters in the world. The STHS team guides in the heart of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, with over 500,000 acres of terrain and an average snowfall of 40-60 feet per year. (That’s over 500 inches of annual snowfall.) This partnership will allow for more options, like the Bell 212 Packages, which are new for the 2024/25 winter season and cater to larger groups of advanced riders.

“This partnership with Wildcat Helicopters is a game-changer for us,” said Dave Pehowich, General Manager of Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Skiing. “Their reputation for safety and operational excellence aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing our guests with the ultimate heli-skiing experience. We’re excited to offer even more reliable access to the untouched powder that has made Revelstoke a world-renowned destination.”

This new collection of helicopters is outfitted with, “the latest technology for mountainous terrain,” according to Wildcat. With this expanded and safe fleet now at Selkirk Tangiers, it might be time to look at heading north this winter. STHS has long been a FREESKIER favorite, and it’s only getting better. The experience they provide is second to none, giving you access to some of the most pristine heli-skiing terrain on Earth. The professionalism and knowledge at STHS allow guests to push their skiing while knowing that they’re in the hands of the industry’s finest.
