Kyle Smaine becomes newest member of Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Pro Team

It was announced today that Kyle Smaine will be the newest addition to the Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Pro Team. Smaine joins fellow Winter Olympic hopeful Maddie Bowman on Sierra’s pro team. Smaine grew up skiing the Lake Tahoe resort, and made a splash earlier this year at the Tanner Hall Invitational, by crashing the party and throwing some huge tricks that wowed the hometown crowd. Press Release, South Lake Tahoe, California, October 29, 2013:

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is excited to announce that South Lake Tahoe local and professional skier Kyle Smaine will join the Sierra Resort™ Pro Team. Smaine was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and learned to ski at Sierra Resort.

“I’m excited to join the Sierra-at-Tahoe family. I love the mountain. It’s where I learned to ski with my family. The laid-back vibe, and focus on terrain parks have kept my friends and I coming back year after year. It is a natural fit, and I’m excited to shred at Sierra-at-Tahoe this season,” said Smaine.

Smaine has a very impressive resume. He is ranked amongst the top 30 Halfpipe and Overall skiers in the world by the Association of Freesking Professionals and has multiple podium finishes at events such as the North Face Park and Pipe Open. Some may remember him as the “poacher” from last season’s Tanner Hall Invitational where he received votes for the best overall performance.

For the 2013-14 season, Smaine has his sights set on the Winter Olympics and would love to represent the United States this season in Sochi, Russia. He also plans to compete in major halfpipe competitions such as the Grand Prix, North Face Park and Pipe Open, and more. His other current sponsors include Oakley, Fischer, TOKO, and Seirus.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is excited to welcome more local talent to the professional team that already includes skier Maddie Bowman, and snowboarders Jamie Anderson, Hannah Teter, and Mark Hoyt.

Keep your eyes peeled for Smaine cruising around the Sierra Resort, flying high above the halfpipe, and shredding our award winning terrain parks all season long.
