In the heart of a new era in mountain culture Kicking Horse Mountain Resort launches the new “Big Mountain Centre†opening its doors to the world on March 22nd and 23rd, 2008. Redefining education in the resort environment, the Big Mountain Centre is a new concept that provides experiences that embrace big mountain terrain and progressive equipment and style in a safe and controlled environment. With the support of Red Bull, Peak Performance, Nordica, Rossignol, Salomon, Faction and Burton Snowboards, the BMC will become the new hub for modern day Ski and Ride development, specializing in everything that defines big mountain culture.
“There is nothing like this in the industry and we are very excited about the potential and unique positioning of the Big Mountain Centre†says Trevor Gavura, program director of the BMC. “The BMC is a concept that covers respect, etiquette, terrain management, guided use of big mountain skis and boards, as well as exposure to avalanche knowledge and decision making. These are the aspects of Big Mountain riding that people want to be introduced to in a non-threatening environment. We know there is a strong demand.†adds Gavura.
The Big Mountain Centre is located in the heart of the mountain in a Mongolian style yurt where one will experience Big Mountain Culture to its fullest with;

A fleet of big mountain hardgoods + snow safety equipment
A Red Bull install lounge complete with custom timberframe furniture, cold equipment and a 37†flat screen.

The BMC currently offers; single day, 3 day and 5 day camps for intermediate to expert riders who are seeking for an adventure not found in typical resort programs. With the best “off the lift†steeps and chutes in North America, there is no better resort to host such a project.
