Keystone Opening Day 2010/11

Keystone Opening Day 2010/11

Keystone Opening Day

Only one word can be used to describe opening day at Keystone Resort…EPIC! Free donuts, hot chocolate, prizes, and 20+ features ready in the terrain park, it must be said that as far as an opening day of the season goes, Keystone has set the bar ridiculously high. I arrived around 8:15am to find a decent sized crowd of people already assembled in anticipation for 9 o’clock, when the gondola would start turning once again. Looking around, I discovered TABLES, yes TABLES of donuts and gallons of hot chocolate, all complimentary. As if this was not enough, Keystone employees were also carrying cartons of donuts throughout the base area to bring them to you. Feeling lucky? Try your hand at the Plinko-styled game of chance themed around the Epic Pass with coffee mugs and beverage koozies among the available prizes.

donuts!

Once at the top of the mountain I made my way to the terrain park, conveniently located immediately to the left once you exit the Gondola. The park has a large variety of features(20+) for EVERY ability and style of jibbing including double- and triple-barrel rails, boxes, wallrides, stalls, mini-jump line, etc… Skiers of every skill level were out in force, spending hours hiking and working the kinks out of their tricks. Keystone has definitely created an early season paradise for jibbers.
