K2 Skis has been building badass skis and gear for nearly 60 years, starting off in a small garage on Vashon Island, in the northwest corner of the United States. At a time when European companies owned the ski industry, K2 believed its skis could hold their own against the best of the best. Since the brand’s inception in 1962, the ski manufacturer has been leading the industry with its creative problem solving and innovative designs, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

K2 has experimented with different combinations of rocker, camber, fiberglass and metal. It has won more awards, accolades and praise than can fit in a trophy case, all in the pursuit of creating truly exceptional products. It’s this commitment to constant innovation that has helped K2 maintain its impressive athlete roster over the years, which includes legends like Glen Plake, Wayne Wong, Seth Morrison and Shane McConkey and current freeskiing superstars Pep Fujas, Sean Pettit and Lexi DuPont.

Bottom line is, K2 has been there, done that and is setting its sights on what to do next. K2 is now inviting consumers into the world of the brand, highlighting the authenticity, innovation and commitment to ski-making that has helped it shine since the 1960s.

Authenticity

With manufacturing knowledge and a drive for innovation, K2 Skis built the first ski with a fiberglass wrapped torsion box. This was the birth of the modern ski that took K2 from garage brand to global player.

K2 has been making top performance skis ever since—for gold medal racers, hot-doggers, freestylers, backcountry explorers, rowdy big-mountain senders and everyone in between.

Along the brand’s journey, K2 has built Olympic winning race skis, the world’s fattest powder skis and the lightest touring skis in the industry.

Innovation

Building the best skis on the globe has always been and always will be the goal. In a state-of-the-art development center outside of Seattle, Washington, skis are designed, built and purposefully broken on a daily basis as part of the design and testing process.

The K2 team is in constant exploration for making skis faster, lighter more intuitive and more fun. The challenge is to take an abstract idea from the chairlift or the après beer and turn it into future ski equipment. Some ideas are successful, some are not; it’s all part of the process of innovation.
