In anticipation for the launch of the men’s Recon and women’s Luv boot collections, K2 opened it’s Development Center doors to the public for the very first time. Folks from all walks of the outdoor industry–K2 athletes, including Amie Engerbretson, Lexi DuPont, Tyler Ceccanti and Olymipan Johnny Moseley, industry entrepreneurs, media partners and influencers–joined the Seattle-based brand at its Buckle Up event on October 18 to celebrate K2’s most recent innovations.
Guests were treated to complimentary appetizers and craft beer as they watched and learned from the designers and engineers who developed these boot collections. Standing on the same floor where these professional tinkerers perfected the boots for over three years, attendees were able to get a feel for how much time and effort actually went into creating the lightest-weight alpine performance boot collection in the brand’s 60-year history.
Keeping the party grooving late into the night, K2 brought in DJ Baby van Beezly to provide the dance beats, an ice luge in the shape of a ski boot and, of course, a shot ski to get the good times flowing. The biggest highlight of the entire evening, however, came when VIP guests were outfitted with their very own pair of Recon or Luv boots to take home. The ultimate performance boot, these collections completely reimagine ski boot construction. The boot’s POWERLITE shell sheds weight–1,650 grams per boot–while it increases power and precision thanks to four different stiffnesses of TPU–the stiffest being in the spine and chassis of the boot for flex control and power transfer. A completely customizable shell and liner and softer TPU materials in the instep and shell body make these the easiest and comfiest boots you’ll ever have the pleasure of stepping into.
