Look Out Peter Parker: Spyder® Active Sports Nabs ‘Super Jules’
Julia Mancuso signs multi-year athlete sponsorship with the iconic ski apparel brand
BOULDER, CO (May 17, 2010) – Spyder’s athletes are a huge part of its brand DNA. With the signing of Julia Mancuso, known as Super Jules to her worldwide fan base, the company is close to being bionic. With more Olympic medals than any other American female skier, the 26-year-old U.S. Ski Team alpine racer proves she has the skills, style and spirit to make her a shining star on the Spyder team.
Mancuso possesses the essence of a Spyder woman: physical strength, love of skiing, sense of fun and empowerment. Shining with her infectious smile and signature tiara, Mancuso will be showcased in print advertising and brand collateral in the coming seasons.
Her input will also be instrumental in the development of women’s outerwear and base layer for the brand. “We strive on finding the best athletes who share the same vision as we do in product and expect nothing but the best in design, technology and support,†said Russ Rowan, vice president of sales and marketing at Spyder. “Julia worked with us as a U.S. Ski Team athlete and has a keen eye for detail. We welcome her to the family and look forward to supporting her on the race course and off.â€
The Squaw Valley-native has taken her drive and intensity for the slopes into big mountain and freeski events, demonstrating her performance diversity with a podium finish at the recent Verbier Xtreme competition. “I am stoked to be part of team Spyder! They have always supported me on the race hill, so I am excited to carry that out to the rest of the mountain and also onto the design table,” said Mancuso.
The 2006 Olympic giant slalom champion won two more silver medals at the Vancouver Olympics to become the most decorated woman in the U.S. Ski Team’s Olympic history.
