Jon Olsson Super Sessions – Day 6

Jon Olsson Super Sessions – Day 6

After last night’s epic session, riders ‘chillaxed (says Damian Cromwell) by the pool at Hotel Tott, in an effort to recharge their bodies for today’s early morning session. Not quite the 6 am wake-up call like the step-up hip session, but after 5 hard days of shooting, dragging oneself out of bed at 7 am is pretty tough. But most of the riders managed to scramble up the tram and inspect the course by 8:30.

As the sun eventually burned off the remaining morning clouds, Simon Dumont, Sammy Carlson, Colby West, Andreas Hatveit, Oscar Scherlin and Henrik Harlaut warmed up to the “Wayfinder Floater Step-down,” a massive 90-ft. step down, an homage of sorts to the old booters of Hemsedal fame. Throughout the day, the wind managed to be a slight pain, but ultimately, was no match for the riders. As the morning progressed, a large crowd of day skiers gathered on the ridge as well as the lift riders being treated to a front row seat of the action.

Eventually, Simon, Sammy and Colby were left tricking the booter — switch 1080s, switch mistys, floated swtich 540s, to name a few. Sammy wins crash of the day (switch rightside 1080) and ironman of the day, taking a few last sled laps to crank out a few more shots for his segment. With the session ended, the sun still high in the sky, thoughts of a nap or apres on most minds, another day has successfully ended at the Jon Olsson Super Sessions.
