Jon Olsson Leaves Oakley and Signs With YNIQ

Press Release: March 19, 2009

Freeski superstar Jon Olsson joins forces with the high-end goggle brand Yniq after 10 years as an Oakley pro team rider. Jon will not only be Yniq’s main ambassador, he is now also one of the major owners of the brand and will work actively with product development, marketing and design.

Yniq is positioned as the first premium goggle brand to the market. With design and material being taken from exclusive watches and high-end sunglasses, Yniq takes ski goggles to a totally new level.

“Yniq has invited me into the company as an equal and their think outside the box approach suits me perfectly. The products are mind blowing and Yniq is really pushing the limits. Not only do the products look fantastic, have stunning quality and materials, they also have the technical functions to back the design up, which is very important to me”, says an exited Jon.

Jon continues: “I like to be hands on and I always had lots of ideas about everything from competitions to products. For me it’s natural to try doing things in a new way by putting my ideas to test. When I got the chance to start collaborating with Yniq it felt like a natural step for me. I really do believe that there is a huge gap in the market that Yniq will fit perfect into, so I am super exited about this!”

“Jon is a trendsetter and the strongest ambassador a brand can have, so we are very proud to welcome him to Yniq. Jon’s title at Yniq is Visionary Evangelist, which means that he will be deeply involved in product development, marketing and design. The collaboration so far has been outstanding and the input from Jon has been invaluable to us”, says Mikael Kenson CEO of Yniq.

The first time that Jon officially will wear an Yniq ski goggle is at his own event JOSS starting on March 21st in Trysil, Norway. There will also be a chance for media and the public to have a first preview of the coming collection at the JOSS party in Ã…re, Sweden on the 4th of April.
