Jackson Hole Rendezvous: A celebration of mountains, music and deep snow

Starting on March 27 and lasting through March 30, the first annual Jackson Hole Rendezvous is a can’t miss event. The spring festival seeks to bring lovers of music and the mountains together in a four day celebration of the beginning of spring, as well as one of Jackson Hole’s best seasons in recent memory.

The free concert series will feature three acts, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Blues Traveler as well as headliner Michael Franti and Spearhead. Denson is a jazz and funk saxophonist who has appeared on tracks by Slightly Stoopid, Lenny Kravitz and Steve Winwood. Blues Traveler has been jamming out since the early-90s, known mostly for their good time feel, and for spearheading the re-emergence of the jam band genre in the early ’90s. Franti and Spearhead have been together since 1994, blending components of hip-hop, reggae, folk rock and dancehall, to cultivate a sound all their own.

Jackson Hole is also sitting on top of a 126 inch base, by far the most in the Rockies, and have accumulated over 453 inches of snow this season. The spring skiing in Jackson should be all-time this year, as some of the most famous lines in the area will have enough coverage to ski.

What better way to celebrate such a deep snowpack than the Marmot Coombs Classic? Taking place on Sunday March 30, the Coombs Classic is a hike and ski competition that takes place on the Coombs Headwall as well as Casper Bowl. For each lap completed, a skier receives one raffle ticket. The tickets can then go towards a raffle from K2 and Marmot at the after party, taking place outside of Nick Wilson’s Cowboy Café.

In addition to the fantastic spring skiing and event schedule, Jackson Hole is also providing spring lodging and airfare deals. The lodging package starts at $129 per person, per night, and includes a two bedroom condominium and two-day lift ticket. For more information on lodging, call Jackson Hole at 800-443-8613, or click here.

The most snow in the Rockies, three days of world-class live music, the Marmot Coombs Classic and discounts on lodging and airfare? It seems like Jackson will be the place to be this weekend.
