Ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT A DRILL. We’re happy to report that Jackson Hole Mountain Resort recorded their first snowfall of the 2024/25 winter season on August 26th. Though it’ll most certainly melt away in the coming days, it’s got us feeling those butterflies. You know, the tingle in your tummy, the excited rattle in your brain, that uncontrollable itch to go toss your full ski kit on and run a lap around the living room. You know it as well as we do; winter is coming.
Jackson Hole was not the only area in the U.S. to record snowfall as temperatures plunged in recent days. Longs Peak, Colorado, the iconic 14,259-foot behemoth of a mountain, was given a graceful dusting of snow on August 19th. Palisades Tahoe, California, was hit with ripping winds and fat flakes on August 24th, and legendary ski film director Scott Gaffney was there to document the scene after an early-morning trek to the summit. Of course, we can’t all be at the right place to catch an early-season snowfall, so our friends at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort passed along a few shots to share the excitement. These photos are sure to get the blood flowing… even if the real snowfall won’t be here for a while.
