FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON BECOMING MORE LIKELY

FOR THE SIERRA AND THE LAKE TAHOE BASIN LATER THIS WEEK.

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL DROP TO THE

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST THURSDAY AND THEN INTO SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA FRIDAY. RAIN AND SNOW WILL BEGIN THURSDAY…ESPECIALLY
IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. AS THE SYSTEM PASSES THURSDAY NIGHT AND
FRIDAY.SNOW LEVELS WILL FALL AND PRECIPITATION WILL INTENSIFY.
THE STORM TRACK IS BECOMING A LITTLE MORE CERTAIN WITH SIGNIFICANT
SNOW POSSIBLE ACROSS MUCH OF THE SIERRA FROM SUSANVILLE SOUTH.

THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP AND INTENSIFY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE
INTO FRIDAY. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE AT
LAKE LEVEL WITH 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET.

CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AT WEATHER.GOV/RENO.
PERSONS PLANNING TRAVEL THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT
SHOULD MAKE PREPARATIONS NOW FOR HAZARDOUS WINTER WEATHER DRIVING

7000 FEET…WITH SOME AREAS EXCEEDING 2 FEET IN THE HIGH SIERRA.
