Here’s the scoop, folks: High Fives Foundation is a Tahoe-based, national 501.c.3 non-profit organization that supports the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing resources and inspiration to those who suffer life-altering injuries. If you haven’t heard of ’em by now, this might be you. Anyhow, we love High Fives; each of their Ski-a-Thons generally raise over $50,000 for the Foundation. Last month, the Ski-a-Thon series dropped by Sugarbush, VT and raised north of $150,000—a new record. And now, for the first time, the fun is coming to the great state of Colorado.
In short, Shred-a-Thon participants will spend the day lapping Copper’s American Eagle lift as many times as possible with friends. It’s a “first to last chair fundraiser,” supported in part by Phunkshun Wear, Copper Mountain, GoPro, Smith, Flylow Gear, Volkl and Marker Bindings. All proceeds benefit High Fives. Retro ski gear is encouraged, of course. Bust out your onesies, skinny skis and other flashy throwbacks.
Participating in the Retro Shred-a-Thon is simple and free of charge. Teams or individuals raise funds; prizes will be dished out all day long; the outfits will undoubtedly be on-point; and you’ll get your leg-burn on.
“Shred-a-Thon fundraising events like these are the most successful for the Foundation, and this is our first one in Colorado,” says Executive Director of High Fives Foundation, Roy Tuscany. “We truly combine the goals of fun and raising funds for the organization in these events, so bringing one to Colorado is so exciting.”
Rally the troops. We’ll see you at Copper. Also, be sure to confirm your attendance via Facebook, here.
