Press Release, November 26, 2013:
After a successful season in 2012-2013, HEAD has made a few new additions to their Freeski Team in the recent months. With the anticipation of the Winter Olympics there is an exciting plot starting to develop in Freeskiing scene leading up to the events and HEAD has positioned itself with some of the industries finest athletes and their talent pool is getting deeper.
“We are developing the Freeskiing side of our brand and trying to contribute the sport at the same time. We feel that athletes are at the forefront of this progression and we are happy to work with a few new individuals this season.” Said Team Manager Tyson Bolduc.
Team HEAD is proud to announce Keri Herman, from Breckenridge, Colorado, Matt Walker from Aspen, Colorado, Maddie Bowman from South Lake Tahoe, CA Alex Ferreira from Aspen, Colorado and Luca Schuler from Schyz, Switzerland will all be representing the HEAD team.
Here is what Tyson had to say about the new members of the team:
“Keri Herman is a unique personality and a vibrant representative of the sport. Her empathy and excitement alone is enough to make people want to party and her skiing speaks for itself. She is the kind of person we want representing the sport as well as our company. She is all about high fives and making the best of every day on the hill.”
“Matt Walker is that guy you watch ski and you are lost for words. He makes skiing look so fun and habitual. Having watched him at the JOI in Åre, Sweden last spring he is calm, collected and astute. He carries his head high and encourages those around him to ride at a higher level. He is a self-promoter and with segments and web clips scattered across the lands. Look him up and you will for sure learn from his approach to skiing and we are excited to share in his passion for the sport.”
“Maddie Bowman has made a place for herself in the Freeskiing scene by landing a spot on nearly every podium throughout the 2012 season. A racer turned “stunt ditch skier,” Maddie is a collected athlete with the drive and athletic ability to push women’s pipe skiing. It will be a tough battle for the top spot going into the season and Maddie is a contender every time she drops in.”
“Alex Ferreira is an athlete. After watching Alex throw-down on the air bag last December in Vail, CO it was clear that he was looking to push the limits of the sport. He has been testing and working with the HEAD product for the last few months and even placed a few results in his pocket from the summer sessions in New Zealand. Alex is a confident and poised individual with a solid carrier outlook. His athletic ability is stunning and it will be exciting to watch him push the sport as well as his peers.”
“Looking at the progression of the sport, we continue to wonder where it will go. Recently, we had to look down and see that the younger generation is here and the bar is being raised to a younger level. Luca Schuler has jumped onto the scene and is making a name for himself in the Freeskiing world. With podiums at nearly every event he entered last season as well as recently adding to that trend this year with a 2nd last weekend at the Vienna Fridge Big Air, Luca is continuing his carrier with HEAD having been a member of HEAD Switzerland’s team for the last few years. He will now be making the jump up to HEAD’s international program and we are happy to welcome him aboard. We are excited to work with him as he learns more about the sport and his abilities. It will be truly exciting.”
