Yes, Japow and Japanuary are real things… the time of year when it begins to go off in the Land of the Rising Sun and the entire ski world flocks to Japan. World-renowned photographer Grant Gunderson was able to squeeze in some Japanuary himself, along with Völkl athletes Ahmet Dadali, Paddy Graham, Tanner Rainville and Tom Ritsch, who were there to test out Völkl’s brand new Revolt 121 ski. More on that, later.

The group were treated to classic Japanuary snacks, namely deep powder skiing, at Kiroro Resort and with Shimamaki Snowcats.
