Hedvig Wessel Tears Into Giant Alaskan Lines

Watching Hedvig Wessel take on Alaskan faces that are half the size of Central Park is like watching Picasso paint. Or, it’s like watch Hedvig Wessel. Potato potahto, as they say. In this quick cut courtesy of GoPro, we get to tag along with the 2024 Freeride World Tour Champion as she rockets down open faces, spines and cliffs somewhere in the rugged mountains of Alaska. Her classic style of composed aggressions has become well-known thanks to her years competing on the FWT. However, it’s always enjoyable to watch her rip outside of the start gate. As one of the strongest big mountain and freeride skiers around, there’s plenty to be learned from watching Norway’s finest.

GoPro Athlete Hedvig Wessel had the pleasure of skiing the Alaskan backcountry with her close friends + GoPro MAX. Dropped off via helicopter, she wastes no time getting into the steep spines + gnarly pillows that are the cornerstones of this ski playground. The well-decorated Norwegian freestyle skier has competed in both the Winter Olympics + Freeride World Tour, while simultaneously traveling the world in search of the biggest mountain terrain on the planet.
