Grandvalira gets ready for the best Total FIght ever

Andorra’s Grandvalira is about to face its best edition of Total Fight 2012 to date, the most ambitious contest in the Pyrenees, considered a reference in the European freestyle scene.

Total Fight Freeski, the most relevant freeskiing contest in southern Europe will take place from march 29th to the 31st, and the news this year is that it will be part of the AFP (Association of Freesking Professionals). 

Grandvalira has prepared an outstanding program of day and night activities, Friday’s Slopestyle contest at El Tarter Snowpark being the major highlight. On Saturday night, all the riders will gather at the parking lot of El Tarter for a spectacular Jibbing contest around the main stairs rail and the awaited San Miguel Night.

Total Fight is an international invitational contest where the world’s best riders gather to enjoy excellent riding and a relaxed atmosphere. Names such as: Macrae Williams (USA), Dale Talkington (USA) Josh Absenger (Austria), Elvis Eidsvol Harsheim (Norway), Alexander Hebbe (Sweden), Kalle Leinonen (Finland), Manuel Manca (Switzerland), Mattias Johanson (Sweden), Tobias Gratz (Austria), Verneri Hannula (Finland), Juho Killkki (Finland), Tom Leisure (France), Scotty Jordan (Andorra), Jaume Puigdengoles (Spain), Luka Melloni (Spain), Albert Martínez (Andorra)., amongst many others, make it an outstanding battle to win the Master of Freestyle award and get the maximum points for the AFP ranking.

El Tarter Snowpark is considered the best snowpark in Southern Europe and this year it is set for action for this special event with several custom-shaped jumps and obstacles, including the event’s trademark gap jump, that will allow the riders to show the best of their freestyle skills:

Line 1: Big Jump
The hardest of all lines, it is a 20m. kicker followed by a very technical 18 m. gap transfer, a 15 m. kicker and a jibbing obstacle.

Line 2: Central
The second line is considered the most technical, as it is a combination of air and Jibbing. The Half Pipe has been covered with snow and it has become stage of a massive gap to down box, leading to a 16m kicker, followed by a massive step-up gap, and a jibbing obstacle at the end. 

Granvalira Total Fight is an “Eco Friendly Event” that sends on a message of respect towards the mountains and the surroundings to riders and audience, with the intention of generating the minimum impact on the environment. It has become a unique event, having received 4 ISPO certificates. For this reason, Total Fight will only use recycled material for all promotion and will increase the amount of trash bins as some the actions.
