The 2024 FIS Freestyle World Cup is going back to its roots. On January 26-27, the event will take place at none other than Waterville Resort in New Hampshire, the birthplace of mogul Freestyle skiing. While events like this can often seem accessible only through a screen, this time, it’s different because you, dear FREESKIER, can purchase tickets today to head out and see history taking place in the same location where it all began.

A U.S. Ski Team Freestyle Mogul event is not to be missed. Competitors hurl down a steep pitch, 28 degrees exactly in this case, littered with moguls and jumps. Zipper the moguls, spin a dialed cork 7 blunt (or any trick, but that’s our vote) and then zipper a few more. Now do that for over 248 meters. Sound easy? No, it probably doesn’t. Turns out it’s even harder than it sounds. The best from around the globe will be in attendance, so trust us, if you can make it, you’ll want to be there.

Waterville has a deep-rooted history with Freestyle skiing, as the resort is often hailed as being the original spot where the sport began. Their first Freestyle program got off the ground way back in 1969, and they’ve been an epicenter ever since. Tickets are now on sale for this historic and wildly entertaining event.

From Waterville –

As the birthplace of freestyle skiing, Waterville Valley will welcome the world’s top international mogul skiers to the White Mountains. The 2024 World Cup is taking place on Lower Bobby’s Run, a beloved double-black diamond run. At 246 meters long with a pitch of 28 degrees, this eastern-facing course is perfect for mogul-style events, especially considering the expansive viewing area towards the bottom of the run.

This prestigious event marks Waterville’s first time hosting a FIS Freestyle World Cup event. But this isn’t Waterville’s first rodeo -since the ski resort was founded in 1966, they’ve hosted 11 FIS Alpine World Cup races, four U.S. Freestyle National Championships, one U.S. Alpine Championship, plus numerous freeski and snowboard U.S. Revolution Tours.

Festivities kick off Friday morning, January 26, with the single moguls qualifications slated to begin at 9:10 a.m. ET, followed by dual moguls on Saturday, January 27. The festival village will also be open during competition. The event will feature an athlete bib presentation and autograph signing on Friday night. No ticket is required for the Friday night activities, which are FREE to the public.
