January, 2008, Santa Cruz, CA — Giro is stoked to announce the addition of freeskier Andreas Hatveit to our snow team. While Andreas is on the rise as a contender in all aspects of competition he has already shown his prowess with an impressive season in 07 which included a 3rd place in slopestyle and a 4th place in pipe at X Games, 3rd at the US Open, 3rd at the Honda Ski Tour, and a 1st place WSI finish.
Along with contest results, Andreas is quickly racking up a nice set of segments which include all the Poorboyz films for last 3 years, as well as the Warren Miller film this year. He also has a standing profile at Skifilm.com.
When asked why he decided to sign with Giro he said,
“I have always admired Giro’s gear because it looks cool but it has quality so I am stoked I have a chance to sign up Giro and work with the team there. They also seem to have an open door policy when it comes to design and product development and that is really attractive. I look forward to working on ideas with their design and product development people in the coming years. I am stoked to be with them!”
As are we. More than anything Andreas feels like a great fit because he is rooted in progressing freesking while maintaining the primary principle that skiing is first and foremost about having fun. Something we at Giro take very, very seriously.
