Red Bull and Leica have teamed up to create a camera in honor of the Red Bull Illume photography competition. As the premiere action sports photography competition, Red Bull Illume showcases the best in photos from freeskiing and snowboarding, to cliff diving, skateboarding, surfing and more. We hit up the friendly folks at Red Bull to give you a closer look at this limited edition collaboration:

Leica took its matte black D-Lux 5 compact camera and engraved it with the silver Red Bull Illume logo. Nice. And this ain't the type of compact camera that grandma totes around at family reunions; no, this baby is packed with so many creative features it could take years before you learn the ins and outs.

The D-Lux 5 sports a Leica Summicron zoom lens, with focal lengths from 24 to 90 mm (35 mm equivalent). With an assortment of manual settings and a wide range of accessory options, this bad boy will bring out your inner Ansel Adams. Take all that, throw in a 720p HD video option, and you're laughing.

Only 250 cameras were made, so if you're looking to get your hands on one you'd better act fast. Priced at 699.95 € (including tax) the Leica D-Lux camera isn't cheap; that's roughly 1,000 USD.

The good news? Red Bull gave us permission to hook you up with a 15% discount, bringing your grand total down to a reasonable 495 € (tax not included), roughly 700 USD.
