Live in Denver? We’ll it is a nice city, and it just got nicer. With a storm hammering the mountains and new terrain opening including the first day of the season for Copper (November 7), it’s time to get your gear ready. While part of getting ready includes finding your left hand glove that’s been missing since that end of the season party at the ‘Basin’s “Beach” another no less imperative matter is getting your ratty dusty boards waxed up so you don’t get waxed by your buddies. If you live in Denver, this will be easy and free thanks to Colorado Ski Country USA’s “Bring your skis to work day.”
OK, so the name of their promotion is a bit, well, lame. But there’s nothing lame about getting your skis waxed up for free. Here’s how it works:
Show up at 16th and Glenarm for a free hot wax from Saucer Wax. Saucer will have shop set up at the Denver Pavilions from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., when skis and snowboards can be dropped off for waxing and picked up as late at 5 p.m. the same day.
While you’re there, you can test your knowledge of ski resort trivia with 99.5 The Mountain’s Pete MacKay. Prizes will be awarded and include free lift tickets to Arapahoe Basin, Loveland and Powderhorn ski resorts, and Columbia ski wear.
You’ll also be able to score coupons to the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo, taking place at the Colorado Convention Center November 7-9. This year’s Expo will feature Colorado Ski & Golf’s expanded recycling program, where attendees can drop off old and unwanted skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, boots, poles and bindings and do their part to keep equipment out of landfills.
