The 2015 Frostgun Invitational big air was the real freaking deal. Once again, Val d’Isere provided an absolutely massive kicker (85 foot table, to be exact) and the riders utilized every single bit of it. If the huge jump wasn’t enough, the event managed to gather a humongous crowd to cheer on the boys for Thursday night’s semifinal and main event.

The 2015 rider list consisted of big air beasts including: Aleks Aurdal, Elias Ambühl, Antti Ollila, Fabien Bosch, Daniel Hanka, Jeremy Pancras, Jules Bonnaire, Kai Mahler, Jesper Tjäder, Nick Goepper, Luca Schuler, Oscar Wester, PK Hunder, Russ Henshaw, Tom Granier and Vincent Gagnier. From very lofty double flips, gargantuan triples and of course some whacked out grabs (mostly from the 2015 X Games big air champion Vincent Gagnier), the crowd saw it all throughout the night.

After the semis, it was Gagnier, Mahler, Goepper, Schuler, Bosch and Ambühl left to duke it out in finals, and thanks to a live-stream provided by Frostgun, the team here at FREESKIER got to enjoy the show. Throughout the 30 minute jam-format final, everyone was throwing down. Seventeen-year-old Luca Schuler put down some rowdy doubles and triples to his feet and that wasn’t even enough to earn a podium spot.

Of course, Vincent Gagnier came to play today. Gagnier boosted his signature quad-grab double corks, earning him a bronze medal. Second place belonged to Nick Goepper, the slopestyle extraordinaire brought out his jumping skills, stomping a triple cork and a few crowd-pleasing doubles.

As for first place, the night belonged to Elias Ambühl. The 22-year-old out of Ronellen, Switzerland put the landing gear down on a very stylish triple cork 1440 and some incredibly big double corks, earning the gold medal and 7,000 bucks.

Per usual, the 2015 edition of the Frostgun Invitational was legit as F. Cheers to all of the athletes and the event organizers for yet another banger. ‘Til next time, dudes.
