•March 6, 2017

The first day of 2017 FREESKIER Ski Test is all wrapped up, and what a day it was. Thanks to over a foot of dry and dreamy Utah powder that fell last night, the crew was graced with an all-time day.

All of this new snow provided a memorable and deep day at Snowbird, of course, but also prime testing conditions for the many 2017-18 powder boards at our disposal. Our knowledgeable testing squad was happy to click into a wide variety of fat, float-friendly skis all day long and test each product’s performance via our ranking app.

Below, find photos from day 1 of the 2017 FREESKIER Ski Test, and tune back to Freeskier.com everyday for more content because we’re just getting started, people. The crew is also capturing the week-long event across our social channels, so make sure to follow along via Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat (Add the user FREESKIER_mag to your contacts) and Twitter.

It was the perfect day to send any and all features at Snowbird. Here, one of our testers Willie Nelson, gets airborne with 4FRNT. Photo: Jay Dash.

Here’s Katrina again, still shredding the sh#t out of Snowbird, this time with that new-new from DPS. Photo: Jay Dash.

Pep Fujas was in the house, ladies and gentlemen. In true Pep fashion, he launched a massive cliff nice and early and completely blew up his binding. Photo: Erik Seo.

J Skis athlete Giray Dadali also made a guest appearance—ready for any and all situations. Photo: Sarah Sherman.

Dadali joked around with his Daymaker Touring adapters in Sego’s mini skis. A new innovation in the backcountry? Maybe not, but pretty darn funny. Photo: Sarah Sherman.
