It’s been a few weeks since Team Freeskier wrapped up its All-Mountain Ski Test in Aspen. After days on end filled with bell-to-bell skiing and rowdy après, a break was much needed.
Today, the crew arrived at Breckenridge Resort ready to kick back into testing mode—this marks our third straight year hosting the Park Test in Breck. We have a new group of ski testers (predominantly ripping local pros), hundreds of 2013/14 park-oriented skis on hand, and Breck’s well-manicured, world class parks at our disposal. Amid sunny conditions this morning, the #FreeskierFest flag was hoisted once again; it will wave proudly here at the base of Peak 8 through Friday afternoon.
While we’re working with new faces, new boards and new terrain, a couple things stay the same: Testers will be utilizing our exciting new Ski Test web app to log scores and comments for each and every ski they use this week. Come Friday, we’ll have amassed thousands of scores and comments; the collective beta serving as the basis for selection of our Editor’s Picks in the 2014 Buyer’s Guide.
Additionally, in an effort to emphasize the “Fest” in #FreeskierFest, we’ll be encouraging our testers to have as much fun as humanly possible throughout the course of the week, both on-hill and off. Champagne will be awarded each night during “family dinner” to the tester who posts the best photo of the day to Instagram and/or Twitter—the one rule being the post must incorporate the official hashtag. That being said, be sure to follow along to catch a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing madness.
Furthermore, just like we did during the All-Mountain Test, we’re offering a super subscription deal on Freeskier magazine—one week only. Between now and April 12 you can get one year of mags for $4, two years for $7 or three years for $9. Be one of the first to get the 2014 Buyer’s Guide (complete with the results of our ski tests) delivered to your mailbox—subscribe today.
And just like that, another week of #FreeskierFest is well underway. Stay tuned as we’ll continue to bring you photo galleries and fun stories highlighting the action.
Big thanks go out to the 2014 Park Ski Test sponsors: Breckenridge, SNOCRU—makers of the Snocru app—and Breck’s own Slope Style ski shop. With your support, we’re in for another “best week ever.”
