Forsake shoes: Durable, waterproof kicks for everyday in the mountains

Forsake is devoted to designing shoes and boots that straddle the line between mountain lifestyle functionality and street-worthy style. Since 2009, the Boston-based shoe company, started by two college buddies who were fed up with wearing hiking boots around town, has manufactured products that work as good as they look.

Its best-selling Trail and Patch models (featured in men’s and women’s styles, respectively, in the featured image above) is one of nine styles currently on sale; today, Forsake is excited to announce the 10th and newest edition to its lineup: the Range sneakerboot, a collection of high- and low-cut, waterproof, leather shoes for men and women. Head to Forsake’s website to receive a $20 Liftopia credit with every footwear purchase in February.

I was given a pair of the Range shoes to try out prior to today’s release, and the bottom line is: I’m sold. Spending time in the mountains means slushy, dirty, melted snow lining the streets, dirt parking lots after a long day on the hill, trips to the local brewery and the occasional sushi dinner—and Forsake’s Range series has carried me confidently throughout each of these mountain town scenarios.

Beginning with the comfort factor… these sneakerboots offer an open cell PU footbed that conforms to the shape of your foot like a memory-foam mattress, a moisture-wicking mesh lining keeps your feet as dry as can be and a gusseted tongue with nylon laces provides a snug, pleasant fit. Each pair of shoes includes two sets of laces, in case you’re feeling like changing up your style part-way through the season.

As for waterproofing, the Range boasts full-grain, waterproof leather that is seam-sealed to the sole to ensure moisture doesn’t make it’s way inside the shoe. Clomping around Boulder, CO, Jackson, WY, and elsewhere around Colorado’s Front Range, I’ve yet to have a problem with the Range’s weatherproofing capabilities. A Vibram Megagrip outsole, an extra wide footprint and a sturdy, composite shank also instill confidence in every step.

Adding the Range series to its collection, Forsake continues to blend function and style, giving those of us who call the mountains home an everyday shoe (aka sneakerboot) that’ll live up to whatever Mother Nature might throw our way.
