THE FINAL BATTLE OF THE SEASON AT 2011'S GRANDVALIRA TOTAL FIGHT

From the 24th through to the 27th of March, The 2011 edition of Total Fight, Presented by Burton and Coca Cola

Press Release – March 24 — In it’s 6th year already, Grandvalira’s Spring freestyle treat, the Total Fight masters of Freestyle, is back for another whirlwind 4 days of the best quality freeskiing, sun and music in the small principality of Andorra, in the heart of the Pyrenees. Held in one of the most well known snowparks in Southern Europe, this year promises, once again, to be a sight for sore eyes.

The resort of Grandvalira, located in the northern part of Andorra, has prepared an extensive list of activities, including Saturday night’s San Miguel Tour held in the El Tarter car park with the presence of “The Pinker Tones”, “The Right Ons” and Barcelona’s legendary “Crappy Tuesday”. And of course, on Sunday, the most exciting event will be the freeskiing competition held in the Grandvalira Snowpark.

The Total Fight is an international competition for invited riders from all over the world. This year, several major freeskiing names have already confirmed their presence, including:
Oskari Raitanen (Finland), Pekka Hysalo (Finland), Flo Wieser (Austria), Tobias Gratz (Austria), Tobias Tritscher (Austria), Raul Manca (Austria), Rene Schwabl (Switzerland), Jaume Puigdengoles (Spain)

The shapers of the El Tarter snowpark in Grandvalira, considered to be amongst the best parks in Southern Europe, are working day and night to build a top class slopestyle which will consist of 2 varying lines with a combination of rails and kickers for riders to pick the best line to show off their skills. It’s important for each freeskier to pick an original and challenging line, since the riders are pitched against each other, and the best one from each round wins, pushing the looser out of the competition.

Line 1, the Big Jump:

The premium big air line is the hardest line with a 20 metre Big Jump, followed by a very technical 18-metre transfer and polished off by a rail.

Line 2, the central line:

The central line is both spectacular and technical, combining big jumps with jibbing.
The line starts at the level of the half pipe, although the latter won’t be visible since the shapers will be filling it with snow for the competition and it will instead become a spectacular gap to box. Next on the line is a stunner of a kicker, all of 16 metres, but it doesn’t quite do justice to the all imposing kicker that follows it, a monster that kicks the rider up into the air and allows them to pull their best tricks. This impressive run is finished by another 16-metre kicker and finally a gnarly, technical rail.

Riders can practice on Thursday the 24th from 11h till 13h and at 19h, as is now customary, there will be a welcoming party for the riders and public. On Friday the 25th, from 21h onwards Nemo’s Bar will host the party that will sound the start to the 6th edition of the Total Fight master’s of Freestyle.

On Saturday afternoon, the organisers of the competition, in conjunction with Red Bull, have put on various activities in the Total Fight village, including a demonstration by BMX flatland champion Vicky Gomez, and a Red Bull acrobatic parapont demonstration. From 21h onwards, put on your dancing shoes to dance to the tunes of the San Miguel Night Music Total Fight concert, featuring The Pinker Tones, The Right Ons and Crappy Tuesday.

Sunday 28th is the big day for the Freeskiers, with training starting at 10:30h until 11:30 and the expression session part of the slopestyle, from which riders will be selected for the grand final, taking place from 12h until 14h. The grand final will start at 14:30h and go on until 16:30, by which point the winner will have made himself known. Prize giving starts at 16:30.
The winners will get to share 8000 euros between them.

The Grandvalira Total Fight by Atomic & Coca-Cola is an "Eco Friendly Event"; This in turn demands a level of appreciation and respect for the mountain from the public and riders and a conscientious decision by the organisers to use recyclable materials and put out more bins for public use. The idea is to have the highest quality of entertainment with the least amount of impact on the environment. Grandvalira has obtained 4 ISO certificates thanks to its environmentally friendly actions, a unique achievement.
