Feel Good Friday: Moguls are formed atop hibernating buffalo

When I was a wee lad, I greatly enjoyed skiing in the bumps. That quickly changed when my dad told me that moguls were formed atop hibernating buffalo. I had no reason to second guess this fact. Dad would never lie to me, right?

After that, I didn’t dare venture onto a mogul laden trail. What if one of the buffalo suddenly awoke from its slumber? I replayed this scenario in my head: There I was, three foot nothing, pizzaing my way down the hill when out of the white emerged the large brown mass—with piercing horns and razor sharp teeth. Having been asleep for so long, the beast would be hungry and I was the easy target.

Perhaps it was because Dad’s knees no longer tolerated the bumps. The telling of this tale ensured he’d never have to follow me down a mogul run. Or maybe he just enjoyed tormenting me. Either way, it was years before I learned of the deception and finally mustered the courage to reenter the bumps.

What does this have to do with anything? It’s just a preface to today’s Feel Good Friday video. Bump skiing, neon outfits and grainy footage—it’s a combination we’re all very familiar with. Yet, it never fails to put a smile on our faces.

Happy Friday.
