Dreamtime is DPS’ annual summer event that provides skiers the only discount of the season on the full 2018/19 DPS quiver. It’s also the only time of the season when the Salt Lake City-based manufacturing company releases Special Edition skis, e.g. crowd favorites with a limited-run topsheet, as well as Powderworks skis—lab-created small design runs that are not offered in the mainstream lineup.
With skis typically shipping within one to three weeks of ordering, DPS’ Dreamtime serves as one of our favorite annual ‘pre-game’ events for the upcoming winter season. From piste to powder, the entire lineup of DPS skis is up for grabs so keep reading to find out more about this year’s deals and how to get your hands on these FREESKIER-approved, precision-tuned downhill skis.
Powderworks Skis
This year, DPS is taking two routes to its Dreamtime Powderworks offerings: a limited edition run of the Alchemist Lotus 138, a pow surfing champion, and the Alchemist Wailer 110 C2, a soft-snow oriented, all-mountain charger.
Powderworks Alchemist Lotus 138
These big-mountain behemoths are designed to surf, slash, slarve, play and plow through the deepest snow on the planet. The first fully-rockered ski designed with sidecut, according to DPS, the Lotus 138 brings float and playfulness to a whole new level, while featuring the control and smooth ride of full carbon construction. For the skier looking to turn the entire mountain into a powder-laden playground, the Lotus 138 is the right choice.
Powderworks Alchemist Wailer 110 C2
Updated for 2018, the Wailer 110 C2 features a new shape inspired by DPS’ Cassiar line of skis; it has a longer effective edge than its wider cousin, the Wailer 112, and a 22 meter turn radius, allowing for improved control in crud and at high speeds. Full carbon construction smooths the ride and instills confidence whether you’re blasting down a groomer, navigating the trees or slaying your favorite powder stashes.
Cassiar Skis
DPS is also releasing its full lineup of frontside-focused skis—dubbed the Cassiar line—during this year’s Dreamtime event. In its own words, DPS explains that its R&D team has “found that too many frontside-focused skis are too race/piste-driven and suffer in crud, steeps, moguls or trees. And similarly, there are too many freeride derived 80-95mm underfoot shapes that simply aren’t fun, balanced or powerful enough to truly carve and generate lateral g-forces on piste.” Using the off-piste mentality of DPS’ powder skis to reverse engineer the Cassiar quiver, designers have found the sweet spot of on-piste performance with all-mountain attitude.

Special Edition Skis
These skis are a limited-run, made in the USA and only on sale during DPS’ annual Dreamtime event; they are small-batch creations, never to be reproduced again. The lineup for this year features three of DPS’ most popular shapes, each with a custom top-sheet design to differentiate you from the crowd.
Wailer 112 Alchemist, SE
One of DPS’ signature skis, the Wailer 112 help make you a better skier thanks to its consistently powerful, yet playful design. On hard pack snow it’s ready to charge while its rockered profile provides extra float once the snow gets deep.
Wailer 106 Alchemist, SE
Utilizing the tried-and-true signature layup of the Alchemist model, the Wailer 106 has all-mountain attributes incorporated into its design. Light enough to call your touring ski, but sturdy enough to hold up in the chunder, carving a groomer or slarving through deeper snow.
Yvette 112 Alchemist, SE
The Alchemist Yvette 112 is truly one ski that does it all. These twigs give the loose and early planing feel of a fully rockered ski, yet they are just as ready to carve down groomers because of their aggressive sidecut and a slight camber underfoot.
Zelda 106 Alchemist, SE
The Zelda 106 is one of DPS’ newest ski models and one of its most versatile. Constructed with a flex pattern and rocker profile that easily initiates turns, this ski finishes its carves with authority.
