DPS Earns Top Marks in Magazine Tests

Salt Lake City—Skiing Magazine has recognized three DPS skis in their Fall 2010/11 Buyer’s Guide: The Wailer 112RP, the Wailer 105 (Hybrid construction), and the Lotus 120.

The Lotus 120 (Pure construction) earned exceptional ratings and the elite ‘Tester’s Choice’ designation, signifying its status as a unanimous favorite among Skiing Magazine’s testers. The Lotus 120 was one of only 30 skis chosen out of over 150 entered from the world’s leading ski manufacturers.

“Each year the Lotus 120 is refined and perfected; it is the original 120mm class deep snow pintail. The Lotus 120 launched a style of shaping that is now followed by practically every ski manufacturer. It’s a shape that has since seen four seasons of evolution, and this year we’ve added patent-pending S.S. technology to the Pure: Carbon + Nano lay up. S.S. endows the super reactive and powerful carbon ride with a blend of smooth metallic feel—all without adding weight,” said DPS founder Stephan Drake.

The DPS Cassiar 80, the frontside and all-mountain specialist, earned Skiing Magazine’s Tester’s Choice recognition in their 2009/10 Buyer’s Guide. The Lotus 138, the thoroughbred pure powder shape bred from years of Alaskan R&D, took a Tester’s Choice designation the year prior.

Also cited by Skiing Magazine in the 2010 Buyer’s Guide: the Wailer 112RP and the Wailer 105 (Hybrid).

The Wailer 112RP is a new addition to the DPS quiver for the 2010/11 season. The Wailer 112RP recently earned the Editor’s Choice award in Backcountry Magazine’s 2010/11 Buyer’s Guide test, in which nearly 100 skis were entered.

“The 112RP is a once in a decade ski”, said DPS retail manager Marshal Olson. “By combining the rocker and flex pattern heritage of the Lotus 138 with the hard snow performance of the Cassiar 80, the 112RP is the most versatile ski ever built. The recognition of the Wailer 105 Hybrid shows the strength and diversity of the two DPS construction lines Pure and the Hybrid]”, said Olson. “Both lines offer different price points and build attributes that appeal to skier needs and preferences on an individual level. And, as always with DPS, you’re getting the finest and most highly engineered skis on the planet.”
