Don’t miss out on events galore in Breckenridge this fall

BRECKENRIDGE, COLO. – Aug. 1, 2011 – In Breckenridge, Colo., autumn is the season for cooler temperatures, brilliant fall colors and, thanks to the burgeoning growing “made-in-Breck” dining scene, fine food and drink. This historic mining town delivers on end-of-summer family fun and unique fall festivals.

Prefer a little adventure? Experience Breckenridge outdoors – by ATV, horseback, foot or bicycle – with a backdrop of high mountain peaks and golden fall foliage. Or, pass the wait for snow with shopping, spa treatments and the pursuit of creativity in the Breckenridge Arts District. Founded more than 150 years ago by prospectors in search of gold (and they found it), Breckenridge still attracts travelers in search of adventure.

1) Labor Day in Breckenridge: Sweet respite from summer’s heat (Sept. 2-5, 2011)
Bid farewell to summer with the challenge of a mountain trail run, the relaxation of a wine festival or the fun of a fundraiser rubber duck race. Sidewalk Sale Days lets gear junkies get great prices on summer favorites and the 36th annual Great Divide Arts Festival features more than 100 artists. Even better? Stay two nights and get one free. Trust us, visitors need that extra night to take in all the fun.

2) Fall for the Arts: Unleash creativity at this inaugural fest (Sept. 9-11, 2011)
Breckenridge is home to a year-long calendar of signature events and the latest addition to the lineup showcases the blossoming Breckenridge Arts District. The weekend includes children’s theater, teen workshops, art walks (and bikes, in true Breck style), open studios and much more, which means artists of all ages have an entire weekend to pursue fine – and fun – art throughout Summit County.

3) New at Breckenridge Oktoberfest: VIPs and more of the best brews (Sept. 16-18, 2011)
Breckenridge Oktoberfest will this year offer new entertainment, VIP package and additional beer-pouring capabilities at the growing event. In its 17th year, Breck’s Oktoberfest brings a weekend of parties, German cuisine and plenty of Paulaner bier. Combine it all at one of the fest’s top parties, the Brewmaster’s Dinner, which features a different beer or wine paired with each of the six courses.

4) Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival: Still on the Hill (Oct. 7-9, 2011)
Craft distillers will gather in Breckenridge for the second annual Still on the Hill festival, which features a grand tasting, restaurant specials, a downtown pub crawl and historic saloon tours. Born of Colorado’s – and the nation’s – rapidly-growing artisan spirits industry, Still on the Hill is the perfect time to celebrate Colorado distillers, get a taste of town and do a little sampling.

5) Fall in the Rockies: Live the adventure in Breck and see the colors in September
Breck’s expansive trail network transforms in autumn, sheltered by a canopy of golden leaves, with patches of brilliant aspens dotting distant mountainsides. Take it all in with a scenic drive, ATV outing, horseback tour, bike ride or day hike. Package it with lodging for a romantic getaway or travel in time for the Oct. 15 North Face Speaker Series with climber Mark Synnott.
