FREESKIER magazine is excited to appoint Donny O’Neill to the position of Assistant Editor, effective immediately. In his new post, O’Neill will write and edit copy for FREESKIER magazine and its digital properties, and will contribute to FREESKIER’s overall editorial directive.
O’Neill comes to FREESKIER with a strong writing background, having most recently worked for Vail Resorts’ OnTheSnow.com, where he focused on product testing and travel writing. Prior to his work with Vail Resorts, O’Neill served as a contributing writer for Unofficial Networks.
“We’re very excited to add Donny to the FREESKIER team as we enter another publishing cycle,” says Managing Editor Damian Quigley. “His education and experience with travel writing and gear testing will be a great asset to both our print and digital products.” Quigley adds, “Donny is the first of a number of new hires for us here at Storm Mountain Publishing, and we’re thrilled to be strengthening our team during a time of such growth in the freeskiing world.”
A skier since age 3, the New Hartford, CT native cut his teeth on the eastern slopes of Killington, Jay Peak and beyond. More recently, O’Neill has spent time at western resorts including Snowbird, Mt. Baker and Stevens Pass. A graduate from the University of Vermont, O’Neill majored in English and minored in Film.
“I’ve been an avid FREESKIER reader for years, and the opportunity to become a part of the family is mind blowing to say the least,” says O’Neill. “I’m stoked and can’t wait to start working with the team.”
O’Neill currently resides in Denver, CO. In the coming months, he is tasked with assisting in production of the 2014 Buyer’s Guide, which hits newsstands in early September, 2013. O’Neill’s updates and contributions can be viewed at freeskier.com, and via Twitter: @oneill_dm.
