Detuned edges: FREESKIER’s Park Ski Test returns to Winter Park

Coming hot off of FREESKIER’s Apparel Test at Retallack Lodge, the FREESKIER crew kept the wheels turning and pointed ‘em toward Winter Park, Colorado, for a day’s worth of sun-soaked laps in the terrain park on an assortment of next year’s best park, pipe and urban-oriented skis.

The annual Park Ski Test, presented by Dragon Alliance and The Ski Monster, returned to Winter Park this year—and for good reason: The Dark Territory terrain park is manicured like a competition-style slopestyle course and conditions this time of year in Grand County are ideal for bell-to-bell park laps.

Our intimate crew of testers ranged from longtime pros to local slopestyle coaches, all amazingly in-tune with what the most demanding park, pipe and urban skiers will be seeking from their skis. The group lapped the park on 13 of the best skis going on sale in the fall, ranking and reviewing the options based on stability, swing weight and a range of other categories, all in hopes of guiding FREESKIER readers in our annual Buyer’s Guide.
