HOOD RIVER, Ore. (December 21, 2007) – DAKINE announces the addition of Kyler Cooley, John Symms, Sammy Carlson, and Mike Riddle to its International Ski Team roster for 2009.
One of the most versatile skiers in the industry, Kyler Cooley joins the DAKINE team with the raw talent necessary to shred in almost any terrain whether it’s powder, park, rail or pipe. In 2007, Cooley placed 2nd in the VT Open Big Air and won the Fat Flake Rail Jam. When he’s not competing, Cooley is traveling the world and his recent film credits include Poorboyz “Yeah Dude” and a segment in “Enjoy” by Rage Films. His other sponsors include Electric, Fischer, Joystick, and Skullcandy.
An Oregon native, Sammy Carlson, 18, is another solid addition to the 2009 team. Often skiing in DAKINE’s backyard, Mt. Hood Meadows, Carlson has racked up an impressive resume in 2007 including winning the King of Style, snagging a silver medal at the Winter X Games Slopestyle and securing a 3rd place victory at the U.S. Open. Carlson has graced the cover of Freeskier, the cover of Poorboyz Production “Ski Porn” and is also sponsored by Oakley, Salomon, Nike, Mt. Hood Meadows and Kicker Audio. Film credits include “Yeah Dude” and “Idea” by Poorboyz and a segment in Matchstick’s “Ski Movie.”
DAKINE also welcomes Canadian skier Mike Riddle to the team. Riddle has been creeping into the podium spotlight for some time now and turns heads at almost every contest he enters. This year, Riddle placed 11th in the Winter X Games Superpipe and rocked 2nd place at The Honda Ski Tour in Sun Valley Idaho. In addition to DAKINE, his sponsors are Dynastar, Look, Lange, SMS Clothing and CMB Travel.
John Symms, a Salt Lake City local, is another stellar addition to the DAKINE roster for 2009. A progressive skier, Symms had a breakout segment in Poorboyz productions “Yeah Dude” and is also featured in the new Warren Miller film, “Playground.” In 2007, Symms placed 7th overall at The Honda Ski Tour and in addition to DAKINE, his sponsors are Salomon, Scott USA and DNA.
