Colorado Powder Forecast for week of April 21
- HIGHLIGHTS
- Storms continue every 24-36 hours
- Friday morning powder!
- Monday morning powder!
It's been a record-breaking year with some areas surpassing 500" for the season, and CS Irwin (a cat skiing operation west of Crested Butte) breaking 700"!
And true to form for this season of big snow, the storms will continue right through closing day. Although Abasin and Loveland will remain open for another 1-2 months, most ski areas will close this Sunday, the 24th.
Between now and then, at least one more storm will drop good powder and colder temperatures over the state on Thursday night. If all goes according to plan, this should make Friday morning a good powder day, at least until the sun comes out around midday and turns the pow to mashed potatoes. The weekend should be partly sunny with some afternoon snow showers, but the next big storm won't arrive until late Sunday night. Hopefully this means that your closing parties will be perfectly timed to take advantage of some warmth and sunshine.
Thanks for checking out this column over the season and for stopping by www.ColoradoPowderForecast.com to find the pow. Stay tuned to the website over the next few weeks as we roll out summer forecasts to help you avoid the thunderstorms when you bike/hike/climb. And just wait until you see what we come up with for next winter…!
