Colorado Powder Forecast: Enjoy the sun, but…

Colorado Powder Forecast for week of Jan. 27

    HIGHLIGHTS

  • It's a powder hangover…now time for sun
  • Dry weather through the weekend
  • Snow back in the forecast for Monday

Man, last week was a big week for areas along I-70 in Colorado. Over 40 inches of snow fell from three separate storms in just six days, with bluebird sunny mornings poking out in between the dumpage. Honestly, I'm not sure how to top that!

Right now, it seems the atmosphere is in a powder hangover as the sun will take center stage for the next few days. The current weather pattern – with cold and snow on the east coast and warm and sun on the west coast – doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

However, one storm will buck the pattern for at least a day. A compact and slow-moving system should push onto the west coast by Sunday and hang out over Colorado on Monday. The storm is somewhat cut-off from the main flow, and this makes exact snow amounts very difficult to forecast. However, I'm somewhat confident that most mountains in the state will see snow from Sunday night through Monday night, and amounts could range from just an inch or two all the way up to double digits. Pretty specific forecast, eh? Well – we're still four to five days out, so…

…stay tuned for more details on the storm at www.ColoradoPowderForecast.com.
