Breckenridge Announces 07-08 Freeride Team Members

BRECKENRIDGE OPENS TERRAIN PARKS, JUMPS, RAILS AND ANNOUNCES THE PRO FREERIDE TEAM FOR THE 07-08 SEASON

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – December 3, 2007 – Riders get ready, Breckenridge Ski Resort has opened two medium jumps on Sundown Trail with an assortment of rails and boxes. As the season gets underway, Breckenridge Ski Resort would also like to introduce the 2007-2008 Breckenridge Freeride Team. The Freeride Team members, Summit County’s most talented snowboarders and skiers, are world-renowned in their field and will be competing this year at competitions around the globe.

NEW! Colby West: Breaking onto the scene with an incredible 2007 season, West took third in the X-Games Slopestyle, sixth in the X-Games Superpipe, and third in the U.S. Open Superpipe. He was also featured in Seven Sunny Days by Matchstick Productions.

NEW! Sean Field: At just 19 years old, Field has placed second in the 2005 U.S. Open Superpipe, sixth in the 2005 X Games Superpipe, second in the 2007 Aspen Open Superpipe, and fifth in the 2007 Honda Ski Tour Superpipe.

NEW! J.P. Solberg: New to Breckenridge, but a veteran in the ski industry, Solberg has placed third in the World Superpipe Championships in 2004 and fifth in 2006. He also took sixth place in the 2006 X-Games Superpipe.

Matt Philippi: Philippi has placed first in the Aspen Open Superpipe in 2006 & 2007, second in the 2007 US Open Superpipe and fourth place in the 2007 Honda Ski Tour. Philippi has been in several industry films including Real Time and Long Story Short, by Level 1 Productions.

Adam Delorme: Delorme had a great season in 2007, highlighted by a first place finish in the New Zealand Open. He also placed first in the Kick Aspen Big Air and the Spring Massive slopestyle competition. Delorme has also appeared in films such as Real Time by Level 1 and Worland Warriors III by Shades of Grey Productions.

NEW! Keri Herman: Herman took first place in the New Zealand Open Slopestyle, first place in the Aspen Open Slopestyle and fourth place in the Aspen Open Superpipe.

Clay Bryant: Bryant has previously competed in invite only events such as the Gravity Games and the Orage Masters. He has also appeared in Worland Warriors III by Shades of Grey Productions and has been featured in Skiing Magazine.

NEW! Angeli VanLaanen: One of the female leaders of the Breck Team, Angeli had a strong 2007 season, placing first in the New Zealand Open Pipe, second in the New Zealand Open Slopestyle, and third in the US Open pipe. She also placed first in the Vermont Open Superpipe in 2005 & 2006.

Chris Hawks: Hawks, a 1999 X-Games gold medalist, has appeared in Further by Teton Gravity Research, many major publications and several Warren Miller films. Hawks runs High Country Freeride, where he is a coach to local children including members of the Breckenridge JV Freeride Team.

Justin Allen: Allen placed first in Breckenridge’s Spring Massive Slopestyle event and fourth in Spring Massive’s Superpipe competition. He has also appeared in Worland Warriors III by Shade of Grey Productions.

Grant Savidge: Moving up through the ranks of the Breckenridge Freeride Team where he started as a JV member, Savidge placed 11th at the Vermont Freeski Open and sixth at the 2006 Breckenridge Spring Massive Halfpipe.

Colby Adams: Both a big mountain and slopestyle skier, in 2007, Colby placed 1st in the NM Taos Extreme Championships and 2nd in the Crested Butte US Extreme Championships in the Junior divisions, as well as first in the Spring Massive Slopestyle. She enjoys spending her time on and off the hill with her bother, Duncan, who is also on the team.

Jozy Gessner: An all-star telemarker, at the young age of 16, Jozy’s accomplishments include wins in the 2005 & 2006 Next Snow Search, a first and second place finish in the 2005 Telemark Nationals, and third place for Extreme Skiing Nationals.

NEW! Everly Gohman: A talented up and comer, Everly placed first in the 2007 Spring Massive Competition. He can also be seen in ski movies with companies such as SkiSta, Shades of Grey, and B Film Media.

Breckenridge JV Freeride Team Members

The JV team represents Breckenridge’s hottest “up-and-comers” in skiing, snowboarding and telemarking, who are 15 and under. JV team members, are given the opportunity to participate in photo shoots and competitions alongside the Pro-Am team, giving them a taste of sponsorship. With the support of Breckenridge and the older team riders, the JV team creates a solid foundation to help young athletes build their careers.

Breck’s JV team features all-star skier Duncan Adams, who has placed in the top 7 in many major superpipe competitions, including the Aspen Open, the Vermont Open, the Big Bear Open, and Spring Massive. He has also placed 13th in the US Open Slopestyle. He is joined on the team by his sister Colby.

The JV Ski Team also includes skiers Cullen Moran, Paul McSparin and Cody Cirillo. Snowboarders are Flynt Doyal, Mike Campbell and Brett Esser.
