DISCLAIMER: The 2021 FREESKIER Ski Test is being held under strict Covid-19 protocols, ensuring everyone has tested negative for the virus, wears a mask and physically distances from others involved in the event.
For the past three years, when the FREESKIER crew has rolled into Aspen for the annual Ski Test, we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy fresh snow across the mountain. But change is good, and skiing under the shining sun is even better. This year, our testing crew was greeted by bright, blue skies, freshly groomed snow and some soft, chalky goodness lurking in the bumps. Naturally, we started off the week testing out the narrowest skis in the garage—85-100 millimeter planks designed for days just like this one.
On-site this week, we’ve tapped local, Aspen-based photographers Tamara Susa and Matt Power to capture all the action. Skiing bell-to-bell, our testers are ranking, rating and reviewing every ski in real time, taking notes on performance, playfulness and other categories to accurately decide which skis you need to get your hands on next season. Take a scroll through the gallery below to get a glimpse into the first day of FREESKIER’s Ski Test.
