Big Sky Resort is making a commitment to terrain park progression, by adding a new beginner terrain park to its assortment of freestyle terrain. After learning on the smaller jumps and features, guests can then move up to any of the 16 new features of the intermediate and advanced level. The 2013/14 season will see 9 terrain parks spread over the terrain of Big Sky, as well as the additional terrain provided by Big Sky’s purchase of neighboring Moonlight Basin.

It’s a philosophy within the freeskier and freerider community that is being adopted by Big Sky Resort as they improve their terrain parks- Progression. Big Sky has added a new beginner terrain park with smaller jumps, rails, and boxes to help guests progress into their 16 new intermediate and advanced terrain park features. With the addition of in the new Moonlight Basin area, Big Sky Resort will boast 9 terrain parks for the 2013-2014 winter season.

Progression is about starting small and building skills to move up to bigger and more advanced features. Brand new this season is the Explorer Park which is a family friendly beginner terrain park located under the Explorer chairlift. The features will be low level rails and boxes at 6 inches off the ground. Cup of Joe and Pony Park are two more beginner terrain park locations in the Moonlight Basin area.

Big Sky Resort’s terrain crew has spent the summer building 16 new intermediate and advanced features that will replace old and out of date features. These features can be found in the main advance terrain park, Swifty, in the intermediate terrain park, Swifty 2.0, and the advance Ambush jump line, featuring 3 large jumps off of the Ramcharger chairlift. Two more intermediate terrain parks and the advanced Zero Gravity Terrain Park are in the Moonlight Basin area, as well as, the Freestyle Forest, mimicked after natural features you’d find in the woods from bent downed trees to boulder walls.

The Biggest Skiing in America ® now brings together 3 advanced, 3 intermediate, and 3 beginner terrain parks to offer a true progression of features for building freestyle skiing or riding skills. Snowsports School provides terrain park lessons from beginner to advance to help skiers and riders safely learn how to maneuver various features.
