It’s safe to say that ski season is in full-swing across greater Europe. Currently, Stubai Glacier in Tyrol, Austria has a complete (and absolutely massive) terrain park, dubbed Prime Park, that most of the slopestyle ski community is feasting upon, even as I type this. FREESKIER contributor and photographer, Andreas Fausko, left his home in Norway to capture all of the action going down on the near-perfect Prime Park jump-line. Enjoy Fausko’s gallery of bangers, above, featuring skiing from Tom Wallisch, Chris Laker, McRae Williams, Øystein Bråten, Tiril Christiansen, Felix Usterud and many more.

The following words and photos have been provided by Andreas Fausko.

For the past two years I have been sitting back home in Norway, soaking in all of the updates from the impressive Prime Park Sessions in Stubai, Austria via Freeskier.com and other social mediums. I’ve wanted to attend the event for some time now, because, well, for a hardcore ski photographer Prime Park is a great way to get a head start on the upcoming season, stack some bangers and soak up some sun.

In other words, there was no way I was going to sit back home and watch all the good stuff go down this pre-season in the Austrian Alps. I was determined to go and nothing was going to stop me. In fact, on the day that I purchased my ticket, half my photo equipment got stolen and I had been in a serious bike-against-car crash. Yes, I was on the bike.

So, when I said nothing was going to stop me, I meant that nothing on this earth was going to stop me. In my opinion, the park in Stubai is the best you can get throughout Europe, and probably the world at the moment (as far as park jumps go). The four-week session kicked off on Saturday (October, 24) with perfect conditions and the riders got used to the jumps really quickly. It didn’t take long before the guys started to throw down. McRae Williams stomped stylish cork 720 nose grabs and threw down a dub or two on the “Prime” jump, while Felix Usterud warmed up with a Bio 900 transfer from the “Pro” jump to the “Prime” jump landing. So much for keeping it mellow on the first day…

The following days continued in the same fashion with big tricks going down on the Prime line under the sun. The session culminated with Fabian Bösch’s double backflip transfers from the Prime jump to the Pro jump landing. And, to top it all off, on Tuesday Bösch went for his first-ever switch triple 1260, which he executed perfectly. Unfortunately, poor weather didn’t allow for skiing on Wednesday and Thursday, but the bar has been set and it’s only the first week of Prime Park.

So, if you live in Europe (or you’re craving a monstrous early season park setup) and wonder if there is any place you should be right now, Stubai is where it’s at. Like me, you’ve got two options: Go to Stubai, or sit on the couch and browse through the awesome gallery that I’ve provided above.
