Aspen Snowmass

Aspen Snowmass

Number 02

Aspen/Snowmass — the quartet of Ajax, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk — is the one destination with the complete on- and off-hill package to rival Whistler Blackcomb’s claim to “Best Resort Ever.” If you want steep runs and impossibly tight trees followed by classy on-mountain dining, Ajax is right up your alley. Snowmass serves up endless cliff bands, steep bowls and a variety of intermediate terrain. Aspen Highlands, the local’s mountain, has a nearly limitless amount of those “double black diamond” runs, topped by the hike-to access of the divine Highlands Bowl. And maybe you’ve heard about the terrain park and superpipe at Buttermilk? It’s home to a little event called the Winter X Games.

Whatever you’re into, Aspen/Snowmass has it. And it delivers it coated with 300 inches of dry, Colorado champagne. It’s almost always sunny and the slopes are rarely crowded.

The town of Aspen is no slouch either. Formerly an old silver mining town, Aspen is home to over 100 bars and restaurants for everyone from the hardcore local to the rich and famous. Hit the après scene on the Sundeck at Ajax or the Sky Hotel’s 39 Degrees bar. Catch one of the many top-notch concerts that roll through town at Belly Up. Drink and dance the night away at Fly Lounge. Shop for the latest gear at local shops like Radio.

Aspen has it all, and it’s all real good.
