Arc’teryx Rush LT and Sentinel LT Jackets: Built for the backcountry

Arc’teryx Rush LT and Sentinel LT Jackets: Built for the backcountry

For nearly 30 years, Arc’teryx has developed predominantly hand-made outdoor products built to withstand the harshest climates. Born at the base of the Canadian Coast Mountains in Vancouver, British Columbia, Arc’teryx has the unique ability to take its products from its Arc’One factory in Vancouver directly into the wilderness for testing. With the world’s largest temperate rainforest and plenty of towering peaks in its backyard, Arc’teryx is able to design and develop its products with obsessive precision–ensuring every detail is up to the brand’s high standard of quality.

That standard is not lost with the Rush LT Jacket–the shell of choice for freeskier Eric Hjorleifson–and the women’s Sentinel LT Jacket. Built for the backcountry, the Rush LT is lightweight enough for those long uphill hauls but durable enough for the long descents over the course of many seasons. Thanks to a minimalist design, this jacket weighs in at packable 405 grams—but don’t let its featherweight fool you. With complete Gore-Tex protection and the use of extra strong, woven nylon fabric, the Rush LT jacket is practically bomb-proof.

Arc’teryx uses N80p-x Gore-Tex Pro to reinforce the high-wear areas of the jacket while a lighter-weight N40p-x Gore-Tex Pro in the body of the jacket increases breathability without sacrificing protection against wind, rain and snow. Here, the ‘X’ in the name denotes that this type of Gore-Tex is more durable and hydrophobic than the traditional version of the fabric.

To round out this off-piste-specific jacket, the Rush LT comes with a helmet-compatible, easy-cinching hood for full protection from the elements. It also features external hand pockets that are specifically placed for easy access while wearing a backpack as well as angled, water-repelling pit zippers that make cooling off on the uphill easier than ever.

Stash your stuff in one of five pockets: the two external pockets mentioned; an external sleeve zipper pocket perfect for a credit card or ski pass (for when you find yourself inbounds); an internal mesh dump pocket for an extra set of gloves or goggles; and an internal zippered security pocket for your most valued possessions. Hood and hem adjusters let you create the perfect fit and a locking mechanism system to attach to the Rush LT Pant adds extra protection for when you’re waist-deep in fresh pow.

The Sentinel LT Jacket is perfect for women who like to work for their turns. Constructed from N80p three-layer Gore-Tex with a soft brushed liner, the Sentinel LT is just as water- and wind-proof as it is comfortable and lightweight. The trim fit makes this ski-specific shell perfect for layering on those wicked winter days. For grueling uphills, angled, watertight pit zippers open up to efficiently dump heat from underarm vents while a helmet-compatible hood keeps you guarded when the snow starts to blow.

You’ll find Michelle Parker sporting the Sentinel LT Jacket on her epic ski adventures so rest assured this shell has everything you need–and nothing you don’t–for a successful day off-piste. The Sentinel LT is outfitted with two front pockets strategically placed for easy access with a pack on and a chest pocket big enough for your RFID. Inside, a mesh dump pocket makes for easy stashing of your skins or beanie and a laminated pocket to protect your phone and wallet from moisture. Taking protection up a notch, the Sentinel LT Jacket is longer than the Sentinel and is equipped with Slide’n Loc attachments that link to the Sentinel Pants for snow-proof protection.

With the Rush LT and Sentinel LT jackets, Arc’teryx proves, once again, that a great thing can always get better. A true product of its environment, the Rush LT and Sentinel LT will withstand whatever Mother Nature decides to throw your way on your backcountry mission.
