The Alpine Meadows Ski Resort base lodge will host the California premiere of the Teton Gravity Research 2011 ski film, One for the Road, Friday, September 23. Doors to Alpine’s lodge open at 7 p.m., where guests can enjoy pre-show beverages at the Last Chair Bar leading up to the 8 p.m. show. Created during one of the world’s snowiest winters to be documented on film, Teton Gravity Research describes One for the Road as not to be missed.
One for the Road presents in HD quality the world’s most renowned and accomplished athletes, who continue to challenge the definition of what is humanly possible on skis. Skiers including Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Grete Eliassen, Dash Longe, Rachel Burks, Daron Rahlves, and many more are celebrated on the big screen while experiencing the ultimate ski road trip – immersing themselves into the culture of Japan's powder Mecca of Hokkaido; discovering Iceland's urban side; exploring the Balkan wonders of Macedonia and Montenegro; uncovering first descents in Pemberton, British Columbia; and hitting full-throttle lines in the perfect snow and weather of Juneau, Alaska.
Special season pass rates & raffle prizes
As an official tour stop venue and fall 2011 tour partner of Teton Gravity Research, Alpine Meadows will offer special rates on 2011-2012 season passes, available exclusively at the premiere. Additionally, the raffle will award a mega-stash of winter must-haves, including Alpine Meadows season passes, Triple Threat college passes, sponsor swag, and more. Submit road trip photos to Facebook contest
Road Trippers are invited sift through their best-ever road trip photos to partake in the One for the Road Photo Contest, hosted on the Alpine Meadows Facebook page now through Monday, Sept. 19. The three photos with the most “likes” and/or comments will win lift tickets, sponsor swag, notoriety, and fame. One lucky contestant will be eligible for the “Judges Choice Award”, determined by one of the most decorated skiers in U.S. history, road trip guru, and One for the Road star, Daron Rahlves. Movie admission tickets
Show tickets are $10 at the door or may be purchased in advance at Start Haus and tetongravity.com. Ticket and raffle proceeds benefit the High Fives Foundation – a Tahoe based non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for athletes who have experienced a life-altering injury while skiing or snowboarding.
