The World Skiing Invitational, which includes the AFP World Championship, is right around the corner, starting up next Thursday, April 19, with the slopestyle qualifiers. The slopestyle, big air and superpipe contests will cap the long-standing Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival, which gets underway today.
Although the AFP World Championship will be the focus of our coverage next week, as the top-ranked skiers battle it out for top honors in the rankings, the Festival has become much more than just a competition. Each night, a different art event takes place at the Whistler Convention Center, and if you're in Whistler, you want to get tickets to these spectacles ASAP. We've outlined some of our favorites below.
As an added bonus, daily free concerts take place in town. This year's talent includes Swollen Members, Trouble Andrew, Dragonette, Michael Franti, and more.
See below for a schedule of key events (or click here for the official schedule), and watch this video from the Voleurz boys, shot in the Blackcomb park where the slopestyle event will take place.
