ABOUT THE 2012 SIA SNOW SHOW — DENVER, CO

The Snow Show kicked off in Denver last Thursday. Tens of thousands flocked to the Mile High City in conjunction with the event. Retailers, manufacturers, media, athletes and many more were on hand. For four days straight, Snow Show-goers perused hundreds of booths packed with hundreds of thousands of products. Some go to browse, some go to buy—no matter the intent, all bear witness to exciting new technologies and new products.

And let it be known, it's not all serious at the Snow Show. As the clock strikes 5:00 p.m., we all enjoy the proverbial popping of the bottle. A multitude of kegs are tapped inside the Convention Center, live bands kick into gear and it's more or less a rockin' party for the better part of the next few hours. Once the Convention Center doors close for the evening, it's off to dinner in one of Denver's many fine restaurants, and from there, it's on to one or another sponsored party at one of Denver's many fine late-night establishments.

On Sunday evening, the booths are broken down and their contents packed into trucks. Many of those trucks head off to faraway lands. Many others, however, head to Winter Park Resort—home of the On-Snow Demo which takes place Monday and Tuesday following the trade show.

A SEA OF TENTS AT THE ON-SNOW DEMO—WINTER PARK, CO

Early Monday morning, a sea of tents is erected at the ski hill base area. The two-day fest provides retailers—and anyone else who desires to shred, for that matter—an opportunity to test out some of the products they encountered on the show floor in Denver.

Here too, the fun continues. Free hot dogs and beer for attendees throughout the day, along with aprés parties etc., make for a fun-filled atmosphere. If this all sounds like a blast to you, be sure to check out SIA's website for information on how you can be a part of the action in 2013.

We'll be spending nearly one whole month on snow testing all of the new products, so be sure to stay tuned to Freeskier.com for more insider info on what's coming down the pipe.

[Ed's note: We did our best to cover as many brands as possible at the Snow Show, but given the immense amount of product on display it's difficult to cover everything. If there's something specific you'd like to see, let us know in the comments, and be sure to stay tuned to the site all winter long as we get a sneak peek at more gear.]
