The all-new Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro is a backcountry beast that’s not only powerful, it’s also quite comfortable. An updated anatomical fit in the shell, combined with a heat-moldable liner, offers exceptional out-of-the-box comfort and a slightly higher instep enables easy entry on those chilly mornings. “With this redesign, we really focused on applying the knowledge we’ve gained over the last decade of exploring and designing products for the touring segment,” said Tecnica’s North American Product Manager, Christian Avery. “We reshaped critical fit areas such as the forefoot, instep and arch to maintain a snug and supportive feel while improving comfort for long days in the boots.” Tecnica’s engineers have also pushed the boundaries of lightweight construction on this classic, four-buckle overlap design. Utilizing a co-injected carbon fiber and Grilamid cuff, an ultralight Grilamid shell and cable buckles, they’ve brought the weight down to a mere 1,290 grams (26.5 Mondo)—nearly 800 grams lighter than a traditional alpine boot. But don’t let the featherweight fool you; this boot still rips with the best of them. The boot’s cuff provides excellent energy return, while the Power Frame construction, borrowed from Tecnica’s ultralight Peak series, delivers lateral stiffness to yield a solid 130 flex. When it’s time to go for a walk, the full Vibram rubber ISO 9523 sole maintains grip on rocky and icy climbs and the updated, double-blocking walk mechanism delivers 10-percent more flexibility for a total range of 60 degrees. All of this culminates in a boot that’s bred to conquer steep faces and trophy lines, far beyond the resort boundaries.
